Tournaments in March
The 1st tournament I played in March was the Croatian International. Unfortunately I fell ill there. At first I lost to Russian Vladimir Malkov in the 1st round of the qualifying. I was not feeling well at all and on the next day we canceled the mixed I was to play with Martina Benesova. This was a shame because we could have had some really good points.
I caught a flu which didn´t want to leave me alone and so I had to withdraw from the next event – Portuguese International – where I was already in the main draw :-(((.
I could only get well for the Romanian Interantional. There I played just singles again and I lost in 3 sets to a young Russian Ivan Sozonov. The first two games were very equal and I could later only regret the wasted gamepoints I had in the first one. Because I won the second set and it all could have been over, unfortunately for me I didn´t win the first game and I didn´t enter the decider very well, Sozonov got fast ahead of me by some 7 or 8 points and he kept this distance comfortably until the very end.
It really feels bad when you know you could have won and you haven´t. And the difference between being the one (winner) or the other (loser) is so small.
